BOB EDWARDS, Host: Good morning, I'm Bob Edwards. Under a new policy at the Gainer's Meat-Packing Plant [sp] in Edmonton, Alberta, workers must ask permission from the supervisor if they want to go to the restroom. The supervisor then starts a stopwatch, and wages are deducted from the employee's paycheck for each minute the worker is in the restroom. Officials of the employees' union called this a new low for humanity, and promised to fight the policy. You're listening to NPR's Morning Edition.
