died last night in Boston; he was 81 years old. I'm Bob Edwards.

EDWARDS: President Clinton's mother, Virginia Kelley [sp] died this
morning in Arkansas; she was 70 years old. The United States and
Vietnam today begin another search for the remains of Americans missing
in Southeast Asia. Afghan rebel forces pounded Kabul today, and there
was heavy shelling of Sarajevo by Serbian artillery. Nancy Lopez
is 37 today, Lou Harris 73. And today is the birthday of E.L. Doctorow;
