NOAH ADAMS, Host: It's only been a few years that computer users have
been able to manipulate and blend text and still pictures and video
and audio on a computer screen. The software that makes this possible
is called multimedia, and many people see the process as an entirely
new way of communicating. The computer magazines have been hyping
the potential of multimedia for years, but the industry faces some
serious marketing troubles. In the second part of our series on multimedia,
NPR's John McChesney examines some of these difficulties.
