highway has dominated advanced technology news. But right alongside
the emergency of high capacity or fiber optic communications networks,
a quieter revolution has been taking place. Multi-media, a major
new entertainment and information format, long promised by the computer
industry, reached critical mass in 1993. The plummeting price of
PC's and advance in compact disc technology helped to put multi-media
