Transcript: New Skull of Lucy Species Creates More Controversy

ROBERT SIEGEL, Host: Scientist announced today that they have unearthed a remarkably complete skull of our earliest known ancestor, an upright, ape-like creature that lived in Africa three million years ago. The scientists who found the skull say its from the same species as the famous skeleton known as Lucy. That skeleton was unearthed two decades ago at the same site in Ethiopia as this new find, which has sparked more scientific debate about how people evolved. NPR's Richard Harris has the story.
