LINDA WERTHEIMER, Host: In Boston today, at the city's Computer Museum,
one world champion checkers match is over and another is set to begin
tomorrow. These are contests between a human and a computer, and,
as NPR's Alex Chadwick reports, the results so far are mixed.
ALEX CHADWICK, Reporter: Well, `mixed' might be giving the humans
more edge than they've earned. Actually, the computer is the default
winner so far, but only because a medical condition has forced an
early end to the match. After drawing six games since play started
on Monday, Dr. Marion Tinsley [sp] said today his doctors have ordered
