ROBERT SIEGEL, Host: Defense Secretary William Perry joined Philippine
President Fidel Ramos and American World War II veterans today to
celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the U.S. landing on Leyte Island.
It was the campaign that fulfilled General Douglas Macarthur's promise
to return to the Philippines and it brought the allies closer to victory.
