NOAH ADAMS, Host: Today NASA announced it's taken a step toward answering
one of the most intriguing questions in astronomy - determining the
age of the universe. The Hubble Space Telescope has made the first
of more than two dozen observations to find out how old the universe
is, and the best guess right now is that it's considerably younger
than astronomers had thought. In fact, this new estimate would appear
to make the universe even younger than some of the stars it contains,
and that is impossible. NPR's Richard Harris has the story.
