SIEGEL: In the region of Croatia known as the Krajina, the Serbs rebelled and declared their own republic three years ago.

WERTHEIMER: They now control about a quarter of Croatia. They're motivated by the memory of past oppression.

VLADIMIR KANEZEVICH: My mother told me about the members of my family which were killed just because they were Serbs. And they were killed in that moment two months after the Croatia gets the first state in history.
