NEAL CONAN, Host: The United States takes the stage again in the World Cup Soccer Tournament. Today the opponent is Colombia, and the match is in Pasadena, California. Television viewers switched on in considerable numbers for the first U.S. match. The Americans played Switzerland to a tie. Today's contest is expected to attract similar numbers, along with the predictable criticism of the coverage - `Too boring' - and the sport itself - `Too boring.' NPR's special correspondent Susan Stamberg, a soccer fan for 20 years, is ready to take on the critics. She says at least one generation of Americans finds the game anything but boring.
