NEAL CONAN, Host: This is Morning Edition; I'm Neal Conan. As more
women enter the work force, more infants enter day care. The mothers
of half of American children under one year of age are now working
outside the home. Child care arrangements of working parents include
help from relatives and other babysitters, but, there is also a growing
number of infant child care centers. As part of our series on families
in the 1990s, Michelle Trudeau reports on what we know and what we
don't know about the effects of early care on infants.
