CONSTITUTION SUBCOMMITTEE TO HOLD HEARING ON
ELECTORAL COLLEGE REFORM
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The House Judiciary Constitution
Subcommittee will examine proposals for electoral college reform in
a hearing
on Thursday, September 4, 1997. The subcommittee, chaired by Rep.
Charles
T. Canady (R-12th District/Lakeland, FL), will hear from Members of
Congress
and legal scholars on two constitutional amendments to replace the
electoral
college voting procedure with direct popular election of the President
and Vice President of the United States.
