Lugar Proposes Dairy Pilot Program

WASHINGTON - In a letter to Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman, U.S. Sen.Dick Lugar called for the timely creation of a dairy options pilot program as an important risk management tool for dairy producers.

"The expeditious, creative and flexible implementation of a dairy options pilot program is an important tool to the dairy industry, " said Lugar, Chairman of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee."The Federal Agriculture Improvement and Reform Act of 1996 is intended to make federal dairy programs more market-oriented, allowing the nation's milk industry to compete more ...
