SENATE ACCEPTS DURBIN MEASURE TO IMPROVE ORGAN DONATION

Washington, D.C. - Noting that nearly 4,000 people died in 1996 while waiting for organ donations. U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin yesterday offered an amendment to help improve hospitals' organ donation programs. The amendment was accepted by the Senate as part of a spending bill for several federal agencies.
