THOMAS CALLS ON PRESIDENT TO REJECT EXPANSION OF GUN BAN

Washington, D.C. -- An administrative directive that would arbitrarily expand the 1994 semi-assault weapon gun ban without consultation with Congress should be rejected, U.S. Senator Craig Thomas said Thursday.

Thomas, an opponent of gun control, reacted strongly to published reports that President Clinton plans to use executive privilege to halt new permits to foreign gun-makers and suspend pending applications to import legal firearms.
