I will keep my remarks very brief because I convened this meeting to hear from our distinguished guests.

I am honored to welcome you to the United States Capitol, and to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Normally, the Foreign Relations Committee hosts visiting heads-of-state in this room. But I felt it that, with all the honors the Chinese President is receiving during his State visit, it is equally important that we in Congress hear from representatives of the Chinese people as well.
