Elvis Mitchell joins Scott Simon for a discussion about comedian Drew
Carey and his eponymous television show. Mitchell says part of the
charm of the show is it is uncomplicated and endearingly normal.
SCOTT SIMON, Host: Drew Carey portrays an unlikely character in a
situation comedy; he plays Drew Carey, the bespectacled, mild-mannered
personnel manager of a Cleveland department store, clad in black frame
glasses and a '50s-style buzz cut, and a bit overweight. His life
is decidedly uncomplicated.
