Last month, bulldozers unearthed 23 ossuaries, which were initially
thought to be the tomb of the Maccabees, the protagonists of the Hanukkah
story. Disappointed and embarassed archaeologists report it is not.
ROBERT SIEGEL, Host: The Jewish Hanukkah ended last night. This
year the holiday had special interest in Israel because last month
an archaeological link to the celebration was thought to have been
unearthed. A road crews had bulldozed dirt away to reveal an ancient
tomb. It was declared a major find. Archaeologists said it was the
grave of the Maccabees, the family of protagonists in the Hanukkah
