The fire that killed or injured more than 600 people attending a school
celebration in a ``marriage palace'' in Dabwali could have been avoided,
many believe, if India had had in place uniform fire safety rules

blaze that killed hundreds of people over the weekend could have been
avoided if India had national fire safety laws regulating tent construction.
Weddings and other celebrations in India are often held in large
