Composer Harold Blumenfeld has set the life of French poet Arthur Rimbaud
to music in his new opera "Seasons in Hell". The composer feels the
poet's tragic life makes a good story for an opera.
BOB EDWARDS, Host: There's a new opera based on the life of French
poet Arthur Rimbaud. The first performance of the opera, called Seasons
in Hell, was presented last night by the University of Cincinnati'
s College Conservatory of Music. The opera marks the culmination
of more than a decade of work by composer Harold Blumenfeld. At first,
he was interested only in setting some of Rimbaud's poetry to music,
