Scott Simon ponders some of the issues in this year's presidential
campaign, including milk and eggs. Lamar Alexander's non-response
to a reporter's question about the price of these items, he was stumped.
SCOTT SIMON, Host: This is Weekend Edition; I'm Scott Simon.
A couple of final notes from the week's news out of the New Hampshire
primary where milk, eggs and roses have become signal issues. Lamar
Alexander was asked by a reporter if he knew the price of a gallon
of milk and a carton of eggs. He didn't have an answer. Political
analysts agreed this non-response put egg on Mr. Alexander's face.
