A public school system in Mississippi is being sued by angry parents
for violating the Constitution by teaching religion. Prayers are recited
over the intercom and every grade level is taught Bible studies.
ALEX CHADWICK, Host: As some of the GOP candidates pledged their
support for school prayer in Georgia, a federal judge in Mississippi
today begins hearing testimony in a lawsuit filed over the issue.
A family in the Mississippi town of Ecru claims the school system
is violating the Constitution by endorsing school prayer and other
religious activities. NPR's Adam Hochberg reports.
