Two years after the Family Medical Leave Act was made into law, studies
have shown that the plan was not as disruptive as many critics claimed
it would be.

ROBERT SIEGEL, Host: And I'm Robert Siegel. A little more than two
years ago the Family Medical Leave Act was signed into law amid charges
and counter-charges about how it would affect American business.
Opponents predicted the unpaid leave mandated by the legislation would
hurt employers; it might even lead to discrimination against women.
But two new studies suggest the law has not been as disruptive as
