The peso has been dropping in recent weeks, raising fears that Mexico
could be headed for another financial crisis. The Mexican government
does not have the foreign reserves to defend the peso.

It was a roller coaster day for the Mexican peso. After going into
what some traders called a free-fall this morning, the peso rallied
in the afternoon, thanks to intervention by Mexico's central bank.
Today's volatility was the latest sign of the peso's weakness. It
