Russian officials say Belarus' President Lukashenko ``jumped the gun' ' in his weekend announcement promising union between Belarus and Russia. Boris Yeltsin is said to be interested only in deeper integration.

BOB EDWARDS, Host: Russia's President Boris Yeltsin insisted today that he has no intentions of forming a single state with Belarus. Before leaving Moscow for Norway, Yeltsin said, `Someone has got things mixed up.' He said he was speaking only of deepening integration between Russia and Belarus.

News of a possible union broke over the weekend, with the president of Belarus announcing plans to sign an agreement with Russia early next month. ...
