Comedian George Carlin talks with Daniel Zwerdling about his life and
comedic routines and an upcoming HBO special. He will perform at New
York's Beacon Theater tonight for the comedy special.
DANIEL ZWERDLING, Host: Has George Carlin really been making Americans
laugh since the early 1960s? That doesn't exactly make him another
George Burns or Bob Hope, who's over 90, but, at almost 59 years old,
Carlin has been a star on the standup comedy circuit longer than
most comedians. His devoted followers can still recite his monologue
from 1972, `The seven words you can't say on TV.'
George Carlin joined us earlier this week from our New York bureau.
