Scientists say teenagers who slouch and nap through classes may not
be rebelling, but simply not getting enough sleep. They now believe
that a teenager needs nine and a half hours of sleep a night.
BOB EDWARDS, Host: High school students are famous for sleep. Bleary-
eyed teenagers slouching to morning classes and then napping their
way through the hours are a common sight. Scientists now believe
it may be more a matter of biology than teenage rebellion. They say
teenagers need more sleep than adults or younger children, but their
biological clocks tell them to stay up at night and sleep late in
the morning.
