"Saturday Night Live" has been a television staple for two decades. Its humor was often sharp-edged and irreverent, but is it still funny? A look at the evolution the show has taken over the past 20 years.

SCOTT SIMON, Host: This is Weekend Edition; I'm Scott Simon. Coming up, cold steel on hot white ice. Can hockey survive in the land of its birth? But first, NBC's Saturday Night Live is 20 years old, and may I say on behalf of those of us in the mid-1970s who thought we could identify with its irreverence and hipness - Ouch! It's still live from New York, still hosted each week by a different guest celebrity.
