In "Nature" a new report on an old controversy suggests the universe
will expand forever with stars gradually burning out. The opposing
theory is the ``big crunch'' as gravity pulls all matter back together.
BOB EDWARDS, Host: A report published today in the magazine Nature
suggests that the universe will expand forever, and as all the stars
burn out it will end in a whimper rather than a bang. The report
is the latest word - certainly not the last - in a controversy over
