Kerri Strug saved the day for the U.S. gymnastics team, by getting a 9.7 out of a possible score of 10. She may have sacrificed her individual performance, however, by injuring her ankle in the team effort.

BOB EDWARDS, Host: This is Morning Edition; I'm Bob Edwards.

For the first time, a team of female gymnasts from the United States has won an Olympic gold medal. Last night in Atlanta, the U.S. team dethroned Russia in dramatic fashion.
