Although the nuclear power plant at Seabrook, New Hampshire, went on
line and produces power today, participants say the protracted battle
over the facility had a lasting impact on the nuclear debate and lives.

Twenty years ago a handful of people protested at a nuclear power
plant construction site in New Hampshire. The August 1976 Seabrook
demonstration was the start of a campaign of civil disobedience that
catapulted the debate over atomic energy into the national news.
It began a struggle that involved thousands of arrests, bankrupted
one utility and, some say, crippled the nuclear ...
