U.S. SENATE ENDORSES DORGAN'S CALL FOR SADDAM HUSSEIN WAR CRIMES TRIAL
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) --- The U.S. Senate, in a 93-0 vote Friday, approved
U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan's (D-ND) call for an international tribunal
to
try Iraqi ruler Saddam Hussein for war crimes.
The resolution, sponsored by Dorgan and Senator Arlen Specter (R-
PA),
calls on the President to work with the United Nations (UN) to convene
an international tribunal, under the auspices of the UN, similar to
those
which followed World War II and the more recent hostilities in Bosnia
and
Rwanda.
