OPENING STATEMENT SENATOR CONRAD BURNS SENATE ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE HEARING SUBCOMMITTEE ON FORESTS AND PUBLIC LANDS

Thank you Mr. Chairman.

I am pleased to welcome my fellow Montanans who spent their time and money to travel here today to testify on this legislation. This kind of commitment shows the level of involvement that enabled this bi-partisan, Montana delegation legislation to become a reality. I would also like to welcome my colleague Senator Baucus and state that I pleased with the work that we and our staffs have completed to make this process come to this point today.
