Lyme disease
Lyme arthritis, an acute inflammatory disease, involving one or more joints, believed to be transmitted by a tickborne disease organism. The condition was originally described in Lyme, Connecticut, but has also been reported in other parts of the United States and, sporadically, in other countries. Knees, other large joints, and jaw (temperomandibular) joints are most commonly involved, with local inflammation and swelling.
