James P. Timony has been named Chief Administrative Law Judge of
the
Federal Trade
Commission. Timony, who was appointed as an administrative law judge
at
the FTC in 1976,
also has heard cases for 16 other agencies.
Judge Timony joined the Commission in 1959 as a trial attorney and
later
spent seven years in
the Office of General Counsel representing the Commission in federal
trial and appellate court
litigation. He also was in private practice in Dayton, Ohio.
Timony has an undergraduate degree from Ohio University, and an
LL.B. and
LL.M. from
Georgetown Law Center, where he was on the Georgetown Law Journal.
He
