Virginia Abstinence Education Initiative

Introduction

According to the most recent statistics available to the Virginia Department of Health, a Virginia teenager (age 17 or younger) becomes pregnant every 80 minutes, and teens account for 46% of all cases of chlarnydia, infection and 3 1 % of all cases of gonorrhea in our state. What may come as a surprise to many is that the youth of today are open to, and actually believe in, the abstinence until marriage message.
