WASHINGTON, November 13, 1998 -- Secretary of Agriculture Dan
Glickman
today announced that USDA has begun disbursing nearly $10 million
in payments
to eligible dairy producers under the Dairy Production Disaster Assistance
Program.
These payments are being made to producers who had to dump milk
or
suffered diminished milk production because of natural disasters that
occurred
from November 27, 1997, through May 1, 1998, in counties with an approved
Presidential or Secretarial disaster designation.
