"Cyberpunk."
The term cyberpunk refers to a school of postmodernist science fiction
that developed in North America during the 1980s. As critic Peter
Nicholls noted, the word itself dates from the story "Cyberpunk" (1983)
by U.S. writer Bruce Bethke; but the term, which combines the words
cybernetics and punk as in punk rock, is identified with the Vancouver-
