McCAIN OFFERS AMENDMENT TO HALT $1.6 BILLION PATENT AND TRADEMARK

MOVE WHILE GSA STUDIES COSTS
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- in an effort to save taxpayers hundreds of millions
of dollars, U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) offered an amendment today
to the FY99 Commerce, State, Justice Appropriations bill that would
require
a reevaluation of the $1.6 billion project to consolidate the Patent
and
Trademark Office (PTO) to northern Virginia and to inform Congress
it there
are more cost-effective alternatives.
