McCAIN QUESTIONS WHITE HOUSE ON AD AGENCY'S TIES TO BIG TOBACCO

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to concerns raised by an interest group, U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) asked the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), General Barry McCaffrey, to explain why Bates Advertising was selected to develop the National Youth Anti-Drug media campaign when it reportedly also is paid to handle advertising for one of the largest tobacco companies, Brown & Williamson.
