RENEE MONTAGNE, HOST: This is MORNING EDITION. I'm Renee Montagne.
Writer Jack Kerouac achieved the rarest of things: he spoke for a
generation. Like Hemingway and Fitzgerald before him who gave voice
to the Lost Generation, Kerouac wrote the bible of the beat generation
"On the Road." Here's a beat moment. Kerouac accompanied by saxophone
in 1958.
