NEGOTIATIONS over Hebron are expected to slow down this week, as the sides failed in an all-night session Sunday night to resolve four security-related differences on IDF redeployment, and Palestinian Authority leader Yasser Arafat left for a scheduled visit to Europe.
US special Middle East envoy Dennis Ross also left the country yesterday, citing the departure of Arafat. But in a statement released before he left, Ross sought to underscore the headway that has been made in the talks and his confidence that an agreement on Hebron is "possible in the very near future." He pledged to return to complete the negotiations.
