MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER, N.C. (Aug. 6) -- The Marines
have
landed and the civilians have evacuated the invaded city; all the
women
and children are safe and out of harms way. This is the scenario that
a
small group of civil affairs Marines try to make possible.
It is a civil affairs Marine's responsibility to keep civilian
populations out of harm's way in combat or threatening situations
and provide
humanitarian relief. Civil affairs Marines make decisions and plan
proactively.
They play a key role in deploying civil and military operations and
achieving
overall mission success centers within an area of operation, said
