1933: Publication of the Australian Women's Weekly
On 10 June 1933 the first edition of the Australian Women's Weekly was published in Sydney by Frank Packer. It cost two pence, contained 44 pages and sold 120,000 copies. The first issue sold out within a day and the presses reprinted copies for three days to meet the demand. The Australian Women's Weekly became one of the most long-lasting and influential women's magazine in Australia. It has influenced the ideas and reflected the social changes in the lives of Australian women for over 60 years.
