MO Senator`s Popular, Successful Concept Gains New Ground
WASHINGTON - A key U.S. House of Representatives Committee has made
a strong
show of support for an initiative originally authored by U.S. Senator
John
Ashcroft (MO), which would allow faith-based organizations to participate
in federally-funded social programs.
The $500 million Even Start program, which offers tutoring to preschoolers
and literacy and job training for their parents, was approved by the
