Redskins Sign Drakeford for 1 Year

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Washington Redskins, hoping to establish depth in their secondary, signed free agent cornerback Tyronne Drakeford to a one-year contract Friday.

With 29-year-old Drakeford, the Redskins will be able to field four quality cornerbacks next season. Drakeford joins Champ Bailey, Darrell Green and recently signed Deion Sanders.

Drakeford, a seven-year veteran from Virginia Tech, spent his first four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and the past two with the New Orleans Saints.
