PHILIPS Luminaires will invest up to RM4 million on its factory in
Shah Alam to manufacture light fittings for Philips Lighting in Malaysia,
Singapore and regional market.

Philips Lighting previously imported light fittings from Taiwan and
Europe.

Philips Luminaires, a division of Philips Lighting, will expand the
Shah Alam facility by almost three times to 7,200 sq m to increase production
of light fittings from 50,000 units to 1 million units a year.

Philips Lighting, which is the market leader in compact fluorescent
lamps in Malaysia, yesterday launched two ranges of lamps said to save
up to 80 per cent of energy in comparison to ordinary bulbs.
