Youth crime prevention programs are important.

Law enforcement officials throughout the nation believe the best way to stop crime is to prevent it before it happens. That's why crime prevention programs that target young people are such a worthwhile investment.

To see an outstanding crime prevention program in action, I recently joined Baltimore City Police Commissioner Thomas C. Frazier and Lt. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend in a visit to the Canton Middle School's Police Athletic League (PAL) center.
