A History of Modern India: The Founding of the Indian National Congress.
It may seem strange to those unfamiliar with the history of India that Indians should have such a high tolerance level.
Despite almost a century of British rule that did so little in the way of good to the people, despite the poverty and famine that were a direct consequence of British land policies, despite the gross forms of suppression of basic human rights over such a vast population, imperial power was a strong and unyielding as ever in the middle of the 19th century.
