Mercedes Ellington returns to Indy.
Mercedes Ellington, granddaughter of legendary entertainer Duke Ellington, will once again call Indianapolis home while working with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
For the sixth consecutive year, Ellington will serve as hostess, narrator, and choreographer, for the symphony's salute to her grandfather "Sophisticated Ellington."
"We are very excited to have Ms. Ellington with us once again," says Tim Northcut, media relations manager for the ISO.
"I feel right at home with the ISO, "Ellington said, from her New York home. "Everyone is so nurturing, and the people of Indianapolis are very supportive."
